Chiefly papers of Harrisonburg, Va., attorney John Edwin Roller, including correspondence, 1863-1917, concerning his legal career and temperance activities; letter books, one of which, 1871, concerns the Broadway (Va.) Land & Improvement Company, the Broadway (Va.) Pottery Company, and the Buckhannan Land Trust Association of West Virginia; Virginia Senate materials, 1871-1873; and Civil War and other scrapbooks. Also included in the collection are papers of John Edwin Roller's grandfather, Mt. Crawford, Va., merchant John Roller, including correspondence, 1842-1850, financial papers, 1837-1855, scattered papers of Roller & Son; and papers of John Edwin's father, merchant Peter Samuel Roller, including correspondence, 1845-1890, loose accounts, 1844-1871, and materials concerning the German Reformed Church in Augusta and Rockingham counties, Va.
